Clara Vargas

A native of Georgia, Clara Vargas began her musical studies with the piano at the age of 6. After a decade on the piano, she decided she would dedicate her focus on becoming a multi instrumentalist as she began to show a passion and great curiosity for mastering new instruments. Her curiosity, paired with talent, hard work, and support from her mentors have all been essential in her success as a musician and have contributed to her eclectic experiences as a performer. She currently resides in the Atlanta area.

As a teacher, Clara has almost a decade of experience with beginning students through college. Her students have been honored in participating in regional bands, honor bands and regional youth orchestras, summer festivals, as well as students attending college on music scholarships.

As a clinician she has taught oboe reed making classes, as well as beginning oboe pedagogy to middle and high school teachers. She has also mentored several graduating high school seniors with year long projects in reed making.

As an oboe performer, she has appeared with the Lagrange Symphony Orchestra and Carrolton Wind Symphony. She has performed in several operas with the West Georgia Symphony, Georgia State Symphony, and the CSU Philharmonic. As a multi instrumentalist, she has performed at the historic Springer Opera House in Columbus, Ga, Act3 Theater in Sandy Springs, and currently holds a position as a woodwind multi instrumentalist at the Serenbe Playhouse in Palmetto, GA. She has also held the title of pianist/organist in several churches in Georgia and Alabama.
