Born in New Taipei, Taiwan, Yu-Hsuan Lee started the cello when she was 7 years old. At the age of 14, she won the first prize of the Taipei Teenagers Cello Competition. Ms. Lee focuses not only on solo works, but she also studies string quartets. Her string quartet won the second prize of the National Taiwan String Quartet competition in 2012. She earned her Bachelor Degree at the University of Taipei with Doctor Ching-Ling Wan. While studying at the university, she participated in several orchestras such as YinQi Culture Orchestra, Little Giant Chinese Chamber Orchestra, and Philhamonia Moments Musicaux.
Ms. Lee is also dedicated with her teaching, ensuring that her students achieve their goals such as involvement with their school orchestra or entering into the music schools. In 2016, she attended the Interharmony Music Festival and performed the Haydn D-Major Concerto during the festival. In 2019, she earned a full scholarship to Ball State University to pursue her Master’s Degree under the instruction of professor Peter Opie. After completing her Master’s Degree, Ms. Lee continued to study the cello at Roosevelt University for the Performance Diploma with Professor Richard Hirschl. Ms. Lee also studies Suzuki pedagogy with Doctor Tanya Carey.
