William Pu Music Academy is now offering music lessons on the woodwind instruments: Clarinet, Flute and Saxophone. We are excited to have Mengdi (Mandy) Han, Shaquille Southwell and John Wildermuth to join the excellent faculty of WPMA. Please click here for more of the WPMA faculty.
Miss Han has received her Master’s degree from University of Cincinnati, College-Conservatory of Music in 2016 and studied with Mr. Bradley Garner, the flute professor at the Juilliard School. Before coming to the United State, Miss. Han studied at Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing with China’s most well-known flute professor Mr. Guo-Liang Han.
Miss. Han has participated many international flute masterclasses and music festivals both in China and U.S. with the distinguish artists like Sir. James Galway, Emanuel Pahud, Jim Walker and Marianne Gedigian.
Mr. Southwell, a rising star from Atlanta has received his Bachelor degree on clarinet performance from distinguished Juilliard School in 2015. Mr. Southwell has received many awards and was the winner of Atlanta Symphony Youth Orchestra Concerto Competition, Georgia Symphony Orchestra Concerto Competition and Omega Psi Phi Fraternity National Talent Hunt.
Mr. Southwell has played with Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, Virginia Symphony Orchestra, Georgia Symphony Orchestra, Pacific Music Festival Orchestra in Sapporo, New York Youth Symphony, Boston University Tanglewwod Institute and Japan, Julliard Orchestra, Opera, and Chamber Orchestra. His teachers include Mr. Anthony McGill, Principal Clarinet of New York Philharmonic and Mr. Alcides Rodriguez of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra.
Mr. Wildermuth has over 40 years of teaching experience on Clarinet, Saxophone, Mandolin and Ukulele. He began teaching woodwinds in 1968 after graduate of University of Missouri, St. Louis.
Since moved to Atlanta in 1999, Mr. Wildermuth has played professionally with orchestras like Atlanta Pops, Atlanta Opera and Atlanta Symphony Orchestra. Mr. Wildermuth is retired from performing and is teaching privately in metro Atlanta area. His students have won positions in All-State orchestras and many different youth orchestras in Atlanta.
