Dr. Emily Boone (DMA) is dedicated to guiding young musicians in achieving artistic excellence through performance and creativity. A strong advocate for new music, she has collaborated with numerous contemporary composers and musicians, premiering works both nationally and internationally.

Originally from Durham, North Carolina, Emily began studying violin at the age of five with Dorothy Kitchen, founder of the Duke University String School. At 16, she continued her musical education at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts Conservatory of Music under the guidance of Joseph Genualdi.

Emily earned her Bachelor of Music degree from the Chicago College of Performing Arts (CCPA) at Roosevelt University, studying with MingHuan Xu. She went on to complete her Master of Music degree at CCPA, where she was awarded the Large Ensembles Scholarship. She later earned her Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of Missouri–Kansas City, receiving the Concertmaster Fellowship while studying with Joseph Genualdi. Throughout her studies, Emily has been awarded scholarships to prestigious programs, including the Heartland Chamber Music Festival as a Festival Scholar, the International Music Academy in Cremona, Italy, the Euro Arts Festival in Halle, Germany, and the Duo Sonata Masterclass Series at Northwestern University’s Bienen School of Music.

In 2022, she premiered Steven Bryant’s multimedia work The Treachery of Sounds with the Pittsburgh New Music Ensemble (PNME). She has also been a frequent performer with PNME on both violin and viola and has collaborated with members of the Grossman Ensemble.
