The Atlanta Festival Academy and the William Pu Music Academy proudly announce the 2021-2022 inaugural season of two new String Orchestras. Rehearsal and performance schedule for both orchestras can be found here.
The Atlanta Festival Chamber Orchestra (grades 9th-12th), Georgia Ekonomou, conductor
The Atlanta Festival Sinfonietta (grades 5th-8th), Guest conductors to be announced.
The Atlanta Festival Chamber Orchestra and Atlanta Festival Sinfonietta will offer string players the opportunity to explore the rich and challenging literature of the string orchestra repertoire. Over two 10-week periods, AFCO and AFS will both rehearse virtually and with traditional live rehearsals. At the end of this period, the orchestras will culminate with a weekend of in person rehearsals and a concert.
Participation is open to all students in the Metro Atlanta area, with rehearsals and performances in North Fulton County. Acceptance into the orchestras is by audition.
Audition Information
- Audition YouTube Video submissions are due on April 30, 2021.
- Videos should be sent to support@atlantafestivalacademy.org
- Students should prepare 2 contrasting excerpts of their choice.
- There are no required excerpts or scales.
- Submissions should be no longer that 6 minutes total.
- Notification of acceptance will be posted on May 15, 2021.
